"It is absurd to approach the subject of health piecemeal with a departmentalized band of specialists. A medical doctor uninterested in nutrition, in agriculture, in the wholesomeness of mind and spirit is as absurd as a farmer who is uninterested in health."

Ethos Diet
Nutrition for Chronic Diseases

The Ethos Diet provides exceptional nutrition for chronic diseases – both helping reverse and prevent chronic illness. There are three prongs to this diet: First, it is a plant-based, consisting of vegetables, fruits, starchy roots, whole grains, legumes, seeds, and nuts. Second, the plant-based foods are unrefined and minimally processed. Third, the plant-based foods are grown using organic farming methods or beyond-organic farming methods.

In these ways, the Ethos Diet goes a step beyond the typical whole-foods, plant-based diet, by ensuring that all the food we consume is produced in superb soil – which cultivates the most power-packed nutrition. (Our diet encourages people to eat conscientiously grown chemical free food; Most of this food will be bought in a supermarket. We can not vouch for the soil that produces this food; Certified Organic does not necessarily mean it came from a good soil, but it does infer that harmful pesticides were not used.)  Most whole-foods, plant-based diet proponents do not require the use of organic farming, and some even refuse to endorse organic produce, given the extra costs involved. At Ethos Health, however, we maintain that it is incumbent upon our generation to accept stewardship of the earth and, by extension, of our children’s future, considering the rapidly deteriorating state of our planet’s health. And so the Ethos Diet optimizes the health of the body as it optimizes the health of the earth, in a synergistic loop.

Let Food Be Thy Medicine

As evidenced by a solid body of scientific research on the benefits of whole foods, plant-based diet, plants provide exquisite nutrition for chronic diseases. That’s because our body, like our planet, is a delicate ecosystem. When we have an imbalance in our body, it can manifest as chronic illness. When we then attempt to utilize pharmaceuticals or surgery to treat that illness, we can interrupt the interconnected flow of our ecosystem and further exacerbate the initial imbalance. Consider the fact that the "side effect" of medications can be death - more than 100,000 people die every year from taking medications as prescribed.  This would make adverse reactions from prescription medications the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S after heart disease, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, strokes and accidents.

Plants, to the contrary, are an inherent part of the life force in us. When we ingest plants, we connect to the energies of sunshine, rain, birds, snails, worms, bees, and all other dynamic ecological forces that participated in creating the food we eat. We effectively reconnect to our nature and vitality. In addition, plant molecules bind to our own DNA and alter how that DNA is expressed – thereby improving the way our cells and bodies build themselves. Which all goes to say, plants feed us, nourish us, and heal us.
